Ignition System for
the Ferrari AEC
103-A
 
This
is an exchange program for vintage Ferrari concourse cars. It swaps
out the original ignition system, part number AEC103A, that is no
longer available. In order to retain concourse points, the original
shell and hardware are used in reconstructing the module using
state-of-the-art electronic components. The
Perma-Tune 103A is CNC machined
and then hand assembled by a master technician so that every part in
the unit is original to the car.
The 103A increases
spark energy by a factor of ten over conventional breaker points
ignition. This is why spark plugs will never foul again, even when
set to large spark plug gaps and will actually recover from fuel
contamination. It uses the points only as a sensor so they will
generally last the life of the engine. Dwell is not a factor: simply
set the points to stock gap specifications and then adjust the
engine timing using a timing light. The unique Perma-Tune circuitry
allows the use of solid core spark plug wire without causing radio
noise.
This ignition is compatible for
use with the Model RV020 Rev Limiter and the Model 911030
Breakerless Pickup. It is also compatible with any electronic
triggering signal that mimics breaker points ignition.
Ignition System for
the Ferrari AEC
104-B
This
is an exchange program for vintage Ferrari concourse cars. It swaps
out the original ignition system, part number AEC104B ignition
module and the BAE202B ignition coil, that are no longer available.
In order to retain concourse points, the original shell and hardware
are used in reconstructing the module using state-of-the-art
electronic components. The Perma-Tune
104B is CNC machined and then hand assembled by a master technician
so that every part in the unit is original to the car.
Due
to the variety of vehicles that the AEC104B ignition system was used
on, a variable RPM limiting ignition module may be connected to your
existing AEC104B ignition module. There are usually designations
after the part number "AEC104B" like "660" or "W". To avoid damage
to the engine, you must replace the ignition module with the same
RPM limit as the original ignition module. When ordering the
replacement module, you will need to know the number of cylinders
the engine has and the factory recommended RPM limit for the engine.
The original ignition module may have a smaller module bolted to the
top of it that reads "limit electronico di giri, 6600 giri/minuto
motore". This means that the RPM limit for this particular engine is
6,600 RPM. Usually, but not always, the AEC104BW has no rev limiter.
The Model 103A
Perma-Tune is designed to replace the stock ignition box and will
bolt up and plug in to the same location as the stock system. The
104B increases spark energy by a factor of five over conventional
ignition. This is why spark plugs will never foul again, even when
set to large spark plug gaps and will actually recover from fuel and
oil contamination. This ignition is compatible for use with the
Model RV020 Rev Limiter.
